Celebrating this year’s arrival of a delicious French Wine

If you’re looking for something to celebrate this November and you’re in the Cotswolds, join us at The Golden Pheasant Inn as we mark the arrival of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau, the first wine of the new French vintage and a long-standing tradition indulged by wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs from across the world. From the 20th – 22nd November 2025, we will be celebrating the occasion with a French-inspired menu featuring seasonal dishes and fine wine, with a dash of true Cotswold charm and hospitality that makes every moment memorable.

Our wine producer, George Duboef, the ‘King of Beaujolais’, offers one of the finest expressions of the Gamay grape. Young, fruity chilled red accompanied by a delicious French classics menu is the recipe for an indulgent lunch or dinner.

A French-themed menu to mark the occasion

Our chefs have made a menu that offers a wonderful celebration of classic French flavours coupled perfectly with the new 2025 vintage.

Choose from either two or three courses which include a heart warming French onion soup and local game terrine to hearty Beef Bourguignon and fragrant Bouillabaisse. This menu has been designed to blend traditional recipes with our seasonal local produce, topped off with an array of delectable desserts such as Crème Brulée and flambéed Crêpe Suzette, all accompanied by a glass of George Duboeuf Beaujolais.

This menu promises a warm, satisfying dining experience, perfect for sharing the spirit of Beaujolais in the cosy charm of a Cotswold inn.

History of the Beaujolais Nouveau

On the third Thursday of November every year, the new Beaujolais is released with wine lovers across the world waiting in anticipation. Made from Gamay grapes grown in the rolling hills north of Lyon, this unique wine is known for its bright red fruit aroma and unbeatable smoothness. Not many traditions can envelop the liveliness of the harvest quite like the first sip of the latest Beaujolais Nouveau.

From the 20th – 22nd November 2025, we’ll be pouring the new vintage alongside a selection of local favourites from our bar. Join us by the fire, settle into our snug restaurant, and take part in this cheerful celebration of new beginnings, good company and great wine.
